With your rod tip down, use a short snap, snap, pause retrieve to get the X-Rap to follow a narrow track right. When fish are suspended over deep water or to trigger shallow fish use the "sweep" retrieve. With the rod tip up, use a long sweep, sweep, pause retrieve for a wider track.
